CREATE A WELCOMING GUEST ROOM

When furnishing your guest room, think about the kind of room you would be comfortable staying in when you are away from home. To make the job easier, just consider the essentials, and build around them in the future should you need to. We have compiled a list of must haves in a comfortable and welcoming guest room.

A Comfortable Bed
The single most important thing that you can provide to a guest, is a good place to rest. You will need to find a comfortable bed and mattress, which should be dressed up with fresh bed linen and fillows. If your guest room is a bit on the small side, you could look at a stylish daybed. If you have a larger bed, you have far more options regarding the type and size of bed that you think would suit the room.

A Chest of Drawers
An absolute must for a guest room is chest of drawers. Let’s face it, there is nothing worse that living out of a suitcase, so your guest will welcome some storage space. Not only are the two or three drawers good for storing items of clothing, bu the top can be very handy for placing personal belongings. Because of this, be careful not to clutter the space with too many pictures or decorative objects.

A Cosy Chair
When your guest wants a bit of private relaxing time, they will really appreciate a comfy chair. Whether they just want to sit and relax, or read a book, a chair is the perfect item of furniture to add a bit of extra comfort to the room.

Provide Good Lighting
Make sure that the room has good lighting. There should be some sort of lighting by the end of the bed, and they should be able to turn on a light when entering the room. Believe it or not, but many accidents happen in unfamiliar surroundings when you can’t see well enough to find your way in the dark!
